The most important thing I have learnt from this course

The skill of paragraph writing is the most important thing I have learnt from Academic Reading and Writing 2B course. Paragraph writing is central to skill of writing because paragraphs are basic units of written documents including dissertations, research papers, articles and reports. The knowledge I learnt from the course covers areas that I did not aware of previously. I understood better about how to write a good paragraph and overcame some of my weaknesses. Improve paragraph writing skill directly raise the quality of my written work. Thus, learning to write paragraph match with my purpose of attend Academic Reading and Writing 2B course to produce high quality written work. For the reason, I feel happy that I joined the course and it is worth.

Comments on the article titled, “Does swimming make people fat?”

The best way for me to lose weight is playing squash. The sport is effective to me within reasonable time frame. I lost weight about two kilograms after played squash for three weeks. I played three times a week and each time for about an hour. Besides that, playing squash helps me to stay healthy. I usually feel energized in doing things on the next day after I played squash. This makes me like to lose weight by playing squash. In addition, playing squash is fun to me, which enable me to maintain the habit for a long period of time. It is less likely for me to gain weight again because I stopped playing squash. Playing squash causes losing weight is successful, fun and healthy.

It is important for parents to teach their children about respective behavior, responsiveness and their own religious. Parents always train their children how they would respect to other people particularly to elder people. For example, a mother buy a black boy doll for her daughter to become her familiar with black people. Also, children are instructed responsive manner for their future work life. for instance, parents give some household work to them as a responsible which should be done. In addition, parents prefer theirchildren know about their religious, so they try to give information about their own religious. So, As children have a little experience in their life their parents try to transfer their own experience to them.

The Honesty

It is important to parents to teach their children about the honesty, because if he grow up on the honesty behavior, he will retain on the same behavior until he become elderly. Also, that will help the child to get many friends. Because if he cheat or lie to his friends, he will lose them and he will proceed his life alone. Moreover, the honesty will help the child to achieve in his study, because he will get all the help which he need it from the teachers because they love the honesty students.
Finely, as a result he grew up on the honesty, he will do the same thing with his children and that will produce a community faithful in his work. To conclude, the honesty must educated from the parents in the childhood stage.

Does swimming make people fat?

According to Dr. David Stensel from Loughborough University, exercise will develop an appetite hormone called ghrelin which will help us to be more effective in our exercise in the future. Therefore, to reduce weight we must choose the correct exercise as wrong exercise will make us feel more hungry. For example swimming in cold water will make us crave for high-fat foods such as biscuits and, as a result, our body will increase its protective fat. While running on a hot day will reduce hunger. Oppositely, mid to low intensity exercise had no impact to appetite.

After exercise, I do feel hungrier than before. It is because our body need more calories to produce energy. I think in order to lose weight, someone must do exercise that can burn calories more than their intake calories, from food.

The downside of being a child prodigy

It is a story about Alissa Quart and her life from she was a child to now.
She was a child prodigy because she could learn read at three years old.Quart is a intelligent writer. Also , she could issue first her writing by seven years old , what`s more , read a book every day.
Now , she has 34 years old and spread her new book " The dilemma of the gifted child "

I strongly believe that , some people born intelligent such as Alissa. however , these people have to acquire some things from their life for example Tomas Edison.
Tomas Edison was born from a poor family ,he had six brothers an sisters. He studied in official school just for three months.Although ,he could invent electricity bulb and brought light in homes.
Besides ,this is amazing ,a young poor boy without professional education could be famous inventor in the history.

On the other hand ,I disagree with this Edison`s idea "try is more important than intelligence "
because young people and adult people can`t understand mathematics without math talent in the school.
I should remember ,I believe ,try and intelligence are equal together.

I strongly support that ,another good condition is family .Consequently ,a child can easily grow up with special method for future ,whereas ,there are many great inventors in the history from poor family. However ,it is merely my idea.

However , some ways are not useful for lose weight because people do swim but after that their appetite are more than other times.

In my opinion , eat more after exercise is not useful because ordinary people do exercise for fitness and lose wight.
I never do eat more food after exercise gut I studied about this topic ; researchers believes that eat more is not safe especially after exercise.Because "The body tends to respond to exercise so it can do it more efficiently in future "

Although , I prefer to drink water and juice .
I strong believe that , do exercise is the best way to lose weight but we have to negotiate to doctor.
Also , ask the doctor to write a schedule for our bodies and our bodies abilities .

I think , this is a good method to lose wight or diet.

More about twiter android 2

It's not just Facebook for Android that's getting an update today -- Twitter just pushed out a new version of Twitter Android app, and while it doesn't add a ton of new features, it's gotten a big speed boost and some polish. The app addition is pull-to-refresh, which the iPhone twiter app has had for a while, as an option bar it`s revealed by swiping on a tweet. There's also new quoting options for retweets and avatar photos are now high-res, which is nice. we just tried it out and avatar photo is indeed faster, which is nice, but we noticed that avatars don't load in right away while you scroll -- Avatarsre generic until you stop. Just a minor niggle, and you've no reason not to upgrade -- upgrades's free, after all. Hit market or scan the QR code after the break.

The Downside of Being a Child Prodigy

Child Prodigy is define as a child with a skill set or an ability that is incredibly accomplished, far beyond their years (Quart 2006). These abilities are mainly in quantitative fields such as maths, chess and music and less in qualitative displines whereabilities are difficult to measure. However, the latter is not impossible. According to Allisa Quart, who was a prodigy, a gifted or prodigy child, which is created and deflated will have a distance feeling of failure.

Ambitious paredts, whose overcultivated their babies in worm may be not only a waste of money but positively harmful. Quart in her book,"Hothouse Kids: The Dillema of the Gifted Child (Penguin Press)", explained this phenomena comprehensively. The book is a good reference for parents about how to nurture talent gently, without damaging it.

In my opinion, some people are born intelligent and some have to acquire it. All children must be treated equally important regardless their intelengence. High IQ, prodigy or intelligent child is part of a human lifecycle. Inteligent child will not ensure someone will be successful person in life. Hapiness and wisdom come from heart not brain.

New York store gives away goods for free

In downtown Manhattan, Athena Robles and Anna Stein launched a free shop. They vreated this shop with the help of $9000 grant from a local cultural body and September 11 fund. The shop does what it say, it gave away goods for free to people who need it.

I think this is a great idea to recycle or reuse things that we don't need. This will create sharing behaviour in the society. In addition, this will also helps us to spring cleaning our homes. Despite these advantages, some people probably take advantage from this idea, they take things for free and then sell it for money.

No, i do not know anyone who does this.

Prince Harry`s gaffe

It is a story bout an prince young action in a party.
The author started this article with an act from prince Harry in a fancy dress party, the prince Harry had a Nazi uniform with a armband on.
Maybe good or bad , whereas , this NEWS reported in newspaper and all people could see prince Harry with Nazi uniform in a photo.
Also, this event was one week before commemorate the 60th universally of the liberation of Auschwitz . In addition , many politicians and Jewish leaders labeled his action shameful and insensitive.

I strongly believe that , prince Harry is a young boy and he just put on a specific clothes in a special party. So , governments makes propaganda in media wanted to say something or submit someting. However , it is my opinion , or maybe wanted to obliged prince Harry to say apologize.
That`s all

Scientists to discuss alien life

It is a story about discovery into space and about alien life besides human beings life.
In the second day from a conference ,scientists could heard something about a special topic
in London.
In this conference Dr.Drake gave speech about alien life and show some reasons to approve his speech. In addition , he introduced SETI institute and talked around SETI activities .
The SETI institute started their job since 50 years ago for searching into space and find other life in universal.

The one hand , discoveries in space are the most important way to learn many things about extra-terrestrial.In contrast , the earth is dying and scientists are searching in other plants because mankind can live on the surface`s the earth for a short period.Although , we must find another plant like the earth . that plant must be have first essential condition life such as water and air.

In the other hand , some people believes discoveries about space and searching in universal relate aliens life is just a myth. They believes that these discoveries are some ways to waste money each countries. However , governments can spend on space discovery budget for their poor people .

Organic food: grub for the gullible?

Organic food is no different compare to non -organic. That is the conclusion made as refer to Food Standards Agecy. The organic food has nothing to do with either being nice to the environment or with higher nutrient content than non-organic. It is just an effort made by sharp businessman to empty middle classes wallet. According to Robin McKie in The Observer, fields are not 'natural' nor are crops: both are wildly successful human invention. In summary, non-organic are safer as over 10,000 years had been spend to breed out harmful traits from crops.

Scientists to discuss alien life

This newspaper article reports on the conference organised by the Royal Society, UK. The conference discuss on the extra-terrestrial life and its possible effect on humanity.

I think sending rockets, people and satellites into space or space program is a waste of money project if the intention is to find alternative planet for human being. Although it could be possible for man to live in space but it will be very expensive and only useful for short period. This is because we also need plants and animals as food which mean thinking about living in space must also include other living things.

On the other hand, I agree with the space program if it is for telecommunication because it will make human communication easier and faster.

NYPD moves to a new beat

It is not a story, It is fact about Harlem`s area in Newyork city and about HArlem`s people .
In addition , author want`s describe how Rap music made and explain history of Rap music.
Also, how governments control this district because all most all of the people in Harlem are African-Americans.

I believe that police are acting is wisely because Harlem area is specific state with a special atmosphere. Besides , Harlem`s people have particular culture as almost all Harlem`s people are African-Americans with black skins.
Also,The governments need to control this state with wisely idea and I strongly support this beneficial idea.

I would say that there are many states and districts like Harlem in my country. However, my country governments don`t have any idea for wisely control these area and I don`t know why?
although , sometimes governments in my mother country do some act and it act make a discrimination opinion amongst people.

The RAP music is a type of hip-hop music and I know all black`s people like rap music specially Harlem`s people are proud of the Rap music because they made it.I pleasure say that first Rap music made from repeated broadcasts of Martin Luther king speeches.

Why don't fathers take more paternity leave?

Nowadays, mothers talking about their partner's behavior during paternity leave.Fathers don't pay attention to their kids when they born. Government survey some rules for dads .The survey shows many employers refus to top up the rate of paternity pay from the statutory minimum of a week .

Smokers may face tougher bans

This story is about how the government is planning to reduce the number of deaths caused by smoking. They are considering banning vending machines, and colourful packaging of cigarettes.

I think there is a strong argument for the banning of cigarettes, but feel that an outright ban is impractical as it will only cause a number of people to turn to the black market.

I agree with the suggestions that we should encourage people to smoke less by limiting the places that are available to smoke, and the availability of buying them.

I'm not sure that we should make smokers pay for health care directly, however believe that the costs that are incurred by hospitals when treating smoking related illnesses should be born by the tax paid on cigarettes and tobacco.

Tourism in Libya will increase in future, why?

Tourism in Libya was not good because Libya's government had many problems with USA' government and also with England's government.so they did not come so many tourists to my country before.however now Libya's government is going to be good relationship with these countries.I can see many tourists of difference countries come to visit my country and my country is going grow up in these years such as my government erect my new international hotels to make anyone comes to visit Libya more comfortable.anther hand Libya's government have decided to make big the best place in front of beach for tourists.so I hope Libya is the best place for tourists soon.

Tourism will grow in Iran,why?

Tourism is increasing in my country,Iran. According to the government's report the number of foreign tourists who have come to Iran rose in 2000 to 2009. Also the domestic tourist arrivals grew dramatically at the same period of time. The effect of the tourism industry is obvious in the several cities namely, Shiraz, Esfehan, Tehran and north of Iran. Some hotels are built and historic places are repaired. Therefore, many people go to work. It is thought that tourism will slighty increase in the next few years.

Tourism will decrease in Iran in the future? Why?

Iran's tourism has a high potentials, to grown and developed . The development of the industry that was not

worthy. Then it fall steadily year to year. The reason can be prepared in the absence of appropriate economic

platforms to attract investment in hotel construction and other industries that pointed side. Therefore investors

being unaware of the fields in Iran. The second , a weak advertising and publishing false and negative news

from Iran cause fell steadily to numbers of visitors . That was followed by social and religious restrictions for foreign

tourists as well as political tensions , with some Western countries as well as other obstacles in the way of

growing tourism industry in Iran.

Tourism in Indonesia will increase in future, why?

I think tourism in Indonesia will increase in the future. because we have a lot of things to offer for foreigner coming to Indonesia, we have 17,508 island so there is many thing to see. Like Bali has got one of the popular beaches in Indonesia, white sand and both nature and culture are part of Indonesia tourism. We have also beautiful mountain people can climb, and many different national parks in Sumatra are just few examples of famous beautiful scenery destinations.

Future of tourism in Iran

Future of Tourism in Iran
Tourism in one of the revenue source in Iran. This industry has improved since 1988 when Iran and Iraq war was over. However in recent years (2008) the number of the visitor in Iran are decreasing and it will go down more and more.

Future of tourism in Iran is in danger because of two reason. The main reason(sake) for this disaster is bad mentality of foreigner about Iran. The first reason for bad mentality is bad advertising about Iran which show Iran is unstable and second reason is recent voting which shows Iran is not safe but actually is over at the moment. The last reason is force for veil in Iran which make tourist fell uncomfortable.

In conclusion, i belief decreasing of visitor will effect in Iran economy because it is possibility to make some tourism office close and also the income for museum and excursion locations go down.

Thank you

Thank you very much for the flowers! They're absolutely gorgeous. Best birthday ever, and I'm only 22!!

Computer Crime

Nowadays, the number of computer networks is on the increase so the opportunity for crime is going up. People rate of buying online is rising as a result, criminal people, who steal some information such as credit cards, are growing. Criminals attempt to get personal data of users through computer programmes. These make that people get confused and impart thier secret reports. In order to collect informations, career criminals hire experts whose have a knowledge of software. Since they employ own computer experts, a lot of IT experts make network secure for internet users. Consequently, we need to increase security in cyber space and have to use better systems to protect users. (JA)

computer crime by Fahad Ali

The number of computer network is increasing, as result opportunitly for crime going up.

The number of people buying online is growing, this means that, criminals steal (e.g credit card)
will be increase.

IT experts make networks secure, therefore criminal gangs hire own experts.

As a result need grows online security, and better systems to protect users.

Computer crime by Ehsan and Jina

1. The number of computer networks is increasing as a result, the opportunity for crime is going up.

2. A number of people buying online is rising so the criminal people who steal some information such as credit cards, are growing.

3. IT experts make network secure therefore criminal gangs hire own experts.

4. As a result, we need to increase online security and use better systems to protect users.

computer crime by Abdullrahman and Amir

The number of computer networks is increasing. Therefore opportunity for crime is going up.So
the number of people buying online is growing .Which means more criminals are stealing things like credit cards .IT experts make networks secure. Therefore criminal gangs hire own experts.
As a result we need to gain more online security and better systems to protect users.

computer crime

The number of computer networks is increasing.Consequently, opportunity for crime is higher

than in the past few years.Nowadays majority of people tend to buy online,so some crime

is growing such as phishing, Trojan horse ,spyware, etc.

The computer scientists always use the secret codes but the hackers can break them, and as a

result,in these days we have to use powerful anti-virus and security to protect our information.

Computer Crime by Parnia and Sharif

The number of computer networks are increasing, so the opportunity for crime is growing. However, the number of people who are buying online is going up that means criminals steal are increased by professional hackers from credit cards ,personal acount number etc either.Following that thesedays IT experts make networks secure ,therfore more criminal gangs hire own experts. So,if we need to increase online security we should add better systems to protect users.

Computer Crime by Mustafa and Sarti

Computer crime increase because developing technology give more people chance to steal private information. As much as you buying online you give the hackers more opportunity to know your password of your credit cards. Following that the networks security they try to protece people who buying online from attatcks , but security firewall the hackers still hack it,so they have to improve firewall to stop them.

Computer Crime by Penny and Emily

The number of computers and computer networks has grown enormously over the past few years. Consquently, the opportunity of crime are keep increasing now. The are number of people buying something online is rising fast, therefore, the criminals of stealing things on the internet is also growing slowly. For instance, the user of credit card's code might be stolen. For the goverment of IT expert, they build the network's firewall,so the criminal gangs have to hire their own experts. As a result of this,it is essential to strengthen the online security and the better systems to protect users.

Drawbacks of mobile phones.

Mobile phone, could say it has some of drawbacks, such as anybody can calls if he or she gets your number and then she or he can disturb you.this is nosy also because if someone needs you directly he or she calls you, some times heard bad news of your phone from someone who calls you and may it's not good for us you know why?because if you work in big company or other places,so it will be bad for you if that job needs some thing from you, they can call you easy, could be bad some thing for you in that time because it makes you tired.

Drawbacks of mobile phones

The most important problems, which are associated with mobile technology is the signal. I believe that the signals of the mobile phones are very harmful to our health. However, people do not care about this.

Thesedayes all most people have mobile phones it means that by increasing the technology everyone needs to have it. Although, having cellphones are very common and necessary for people,it causes different problem. For instance, in public places such as in the classroom and in the cinema, it should be silent or off because it distacts others from their works.

It is thought that, if they are used in the best way they would be very useful.

Drawbacks of mobile phones

In fact, mobile phones, which play a role of important part in life,is a kind of modern technology nowadays. The design of mobile phones are tiny and easy to carry out,we could use this everytimes when we need.Mobile phone might have a lot of advantanges, but,it is also have some drawbacks, nothing is perfect.
As result of scientis, the disavantanges of cell phone when we are put it close to our body,it is probably extirpate our genes due to the cell phone's radiation.
In the same way, mobile phone, which is one of the reason cause the rising cases of assistant in modern life.Someone made the illegal of using mobile phone when they are driving, for instance, people usually chatting on the phone without hand-free when they are driving,it would draw one's attention away.
For my recommend, people should use the right way of using cell phone, must not make a call or messaging when driving and put away the mobile phone if u didnt use,it would decrease the radiate of extirpate our bodycell.

drawbacks of mobile phones

Nowadys everyone has got a mobile phone at least , it is really useful and helpful in people 's social life , some people say that they can't leave mobile per day , lt likes foods they have
it everyday .However ,there are a number of drawbacks of people using a mobile .

Firstly , some people answer a call very loudly at the public places , such as hospital ,cinema , library and so on . For this reason , other people might not do their own things perfectly whatever they want . Moreover , some parents spend a lot of time to communicate with their friends on mobile , as a result they may lose the opportunity to care their family and lose their job .these all problems are from the mobile phone .

In my opinion , i hope people think about other people 's situation when they have a call at the public place , if they remember this problem , so people have got a mobile phone which brings a lot of benefites without any disadvantages in their life .

Drawbacks of mobile phones

Nowadays mobile phones can be drawbacks, everywhere you go people talking or messaging on the phones, specially when we are in Hospital people don't know the roles that in Hospital are not allowed to call, following that people don't spend enough time talking with their family or friend, specially with young generation they spend more time on the phones, However mobile phones can be very useful to communicated with our relative.

Literacy levels are going down.why?

Literacy means the ability to read and write.all the people around the world are reading and writing because without them we can not communication by many ways such as newspaper, magazine.there are many people used to read it but now some of people they do not use to read it because first of all spend of time to read it and you have to wait newspaper and sometimes not clear when you read it,I mean there are some of them when they read it they have still some question about that subject and also there are many people are working whole day so they do not have enough time to read a book.so in these days you can not see many people are reading newspaper or books same as before when you saw a lot of people were reading at coffee or garden so no.
But now if they need to know any information they can get it from many ways such as use internet and if they want to write something ,they can do it by chatting on computer, messenger,or writer machine,I mean wrote it on computer and then print it.so now we can see so many people are going to leave reading books ,newspaper or magazine so on.they used to it but now earn time and easy to research it in internet.

Literacy levels are going down why?

At the present time ,many people have a lot of entertainment like Internet Radio Television and so on
and folk spend with watch TV or listen to radio. This in industrialized countries moore than other countries for instance
80 percent of people in industrialized countries watch television more than 5hours a day but in 80percent of people in the-
third word countries watch television less than 3hours a day.
this entertainment leaves bad influence to literacy levels because people do not read any thing or learn new any thing.
nowadays folk do not like to read some thing like books or newspapers so these reasons literacy levels are gonig down.
on the other hand, some people disagree.they think this entertainment helps to improve literacy levels because when
folk watch television or listen to radio influence to learn new things and this is good for improve literacy levels.
however in my opinion literacy levels are going down and governments must to encourage people to read some things
and learn new things. It makes literacy levels goes up.

literacy level are going down, why?

Nowadays, people who read books and newspapers are on the decrease and some people also tend to be afraid of writing. What is the cuase of the problem?

There are three main explanations to decline. Firstly, people spend a lot of time using new technology. For instance, they enjoy using the internet such as playing computer games, web browsing, chatting a lot of time. Sometimes, they watch TV programmes or movie instead of reading. Many persons seem to do more interesting things rather than reading books. Secondly, people write wrong words and sentences when they chat with their friend on the internet. Although they can make correct sentence, they often use poor english to easy to write. So, some people make a spelling mistake. they don't remember one. Lastly, People who work at office don't have much time to read. They spend most of their time working. so, they might choose another hobbies to relax.

For some reason, literacy of people might decrease and get worse. in addition, some children think that reading is very boring activity. We need some suggestion to solve this problem. (JA)

Literacy levels are going down.why?

By increasing the technology and facilities, people want to have a better life. They would like to have the best one of everythings such as cars, houses etc. Therefore they need to earn more money. They should work for a long time. For instance, when a woman works for a long hours,it makes her tierd and then when she gets back home, she wants to get relax, watch TV, take care her children and have a good time with her family. And for the children, different entertainments such as computer games, chatting on the internet, surfing internet etc take their time. They prefer to have fun instead of reading or writing.
I think beacuse of growing technology and decreasing free time people do not have enough time to study, write and improve their literacy levels.

literacy level are going down, why?

Nowadays in third world countries, with increasing population and limited school facility children are getting less and less opportunity to get proper eduction and learn to read and write.

However in the developed countries, it's just the opposite where schooling is provided by the state and it is mandatory to attend schooling to an age of 16 in hence literacy has improved.

Although in developed countries, more and more people are getting less interested in reading and writing due to TV and internet and hence these skills slowly disappears

Does swimming make people fat?

Don't you think that it's ridiculous when someone say that swimming will make people fat.....
Thus,if you are exercising to lose weight, choose your sport carefully.

Q: Why did I said like that?
New research shows that certain forms of exercise cause participants to feel more hungry than others. As a result, any calories lost are likely to be quickly replaced.

Q: Which exercise can do more efficiently in future?
Dr David Stensel of Loughborough University, who led the research, say runners perform better if they have a low body weight. He futher explained that people who swim in cold water would benefit from protective fat.

Trio who tried to cheat their way to 1M

An army major Charles Ingram and his wife, Diana together with a lecturer,Tecwen Whittock came up to cheat in the quiz show, "Who Wants To be A Millionaire?", scheming to win a million. The lecturer was sitting one meter away from them and coughed as a signal for giving the answers. Unfortunately it was suspected by the programme makers who later called to the police before the cheque was handed in. Three of them were sentences to jail with fine for about 10'000 pounds each.

Do you think the judgement was fair? I do think that it was really very fair. Everyone love money and would strive hard to achieve his or her goal. Some would try on their luck by participating on TV show or any other games and competitions. It is not fair to people who did not win but always try to be fair, participating, working or playing whole-heartedly without cheating. Hence, people who cheat should be punished.

However, if you are smart enough to cheat, would you do so? Why and why not.? It would be tempting if I'm pretty sure that I will be winning. Somehow, I won't do that in order to avoid for being in a deep shit. Never forget about this--There are always consequences that you need to bear of for what you have done.

Octuplets celebrate first birthday

A single and unemployed woman, Ms Suleman, celebrated with her eight babies for their first birthday in California. According to the post, she felt that her family is growing to be too large for it could be.

Q1: What are the advantages and disadvantages of growing up in a large family?
Well, there are always pros and cons for anything. A large family would look crowded and children would not suffer from loneliness. Their childhood would be more interesting as they always have companion in case their parents weren't at home for them. However, children would get easily fall into jealousy especially when parents give more cares towards other rather than him or her as in to be left out. They could easily get into quarrel too.

Q2: Do you have a lot of siblings?
I do have a lot too. There are four siblings including me. I believe more than two is considered as "a lot".

Q3:What are the advantages and disadvantage of having a lot of children if you are a parent.
Having a lot of children would help to decrease parent's burden when they help out to do housework or helping each other in homework, as well as taking care of one and another. Somehow, it would be a burden too in terms of expenses.

Q4:Would you like to have a large family ? Why? Why not?
It depends on one's ability. If I have a good paid or a steady income and am able to take good care of my children, why am I not allow to have a lot of children?

Smokers might decrease through the ban of government

I found out that smoking rates in Britain and other European countries have been coming down in recent years and that decrease was reflectled the falling rates of deseases like lung cancer.

Q: How do the number of smokers reducing?
This is because of various policies including a ban of advertising, putting grisly pictures on packet and raising the age of sale of tobacco to 18. This seem like have changing consumer lifestyle choices.

Eventually,it would be awesome if our country follow the steps of them to ban the smokers. I absolutely hate the "smell" of smoke and hope that our government will take action to solve such problems. Our government should rely on"saves lifes and protect health".

Scientists to discuss alien life

Hi all

This article is a science report from Guardian, on a gathering in London regarding extra-terrestrial life. (For those who haven't seen the article yet, here is the link to the original web page on Guardian website: +). This scientific conference is held by the UK's national academy of science, and the possible effects of Extra-Terrestrial (do you remember ET and Spielberg?) life on humanity is the main focus of the discussion.
Among interesting things that the article has reported is Dr. Drake speaking, which claims that satellite TV and the digital revolution is making humanity more and more invisible to aliens from other planets. Which means the chance of us being seen by the far more advanced civilizations of the alien ETs is being decreased!

Two statements are proposed at the end, for further discussion:

1. Sending rockets, people and satellites into space is a waste of money - we do not need a space program.
I personally do not agree. At least, it is a part of science, as a human intellectual endeavor to discover, explore, understand and explain the world and universe in which he lives and exists. This knowledge and discovery may also have many benefits and utilities as a result.

2. Trying to discover new, and possibly hospitable, planets is vital for our future survival.
It could be a good -and interesting- suggestion to try finding some place other than the earth to live in, after fully exploiting it. But, apart from the possibility that we couldn't find a place so appropriate for human being to dwell as the Earth, if the way of exploiting new planet continues, we should also continue our searches for new homes as well.

Waiting to hear you on the topic!
Sadra

What the scientists are saying......

Does swimming make people fat???

after I read this article,I found out that certain form of exercise cause the participants to feel more hungry then others, with the result that any calories lost are likely to be replace quickly.
swimming in cool water, for instance, tend to make people crave high-fat foods.

Q.What kind of sport is the best for someone who want to lose weight?
a.running in a hot day is the best exercise to lose weight, because running on a hot

Organic food:grub for the gullible?

This article discuss that the "nutrient content" of organic produces is no higher than non-organic. It has been established that the organic tomatoes look as nutritious as a stubbed toe. This statement was agreed by Simon Heffer in The Daily Telegraph.

Q: Are the organic food now become commercial?
The organic food craze don't being nice to the environment. The businessman just grabbing a chance to "empty the wallets" of the gullible middle-classes.

Q: What is the reason of the impact on "environment stewardship"?
Modern farming tries to "crush, cradicate and blitz" the natural environment whereas organic farming methods work with nature. That might be a "hippy cliche".

In a nutshell, if agriculture is to develop then we must embrace new technologies. We can't just spurn away what is natural. If we don't,more many of us will go hungry.

NYPD

For your information, NYPD stands for New York Police Department. Supposingly, I intended to write this post last night as this topic would be my homework for yesterday. Somehow, I failed to sign in and this is my purpose of sharing to inform you that the password is not an "o" but a zero. Besides, do take note of the capital letter! I could only say few words about that as password is always confidential.

Somehow I feel this article is a bit difficult for me as I could hardly understand some of the paragraphs. The question goes: Is the article of Police Department considered as a discrimination? I would say that yes, it is. Rap could be considered as a culture which invented in U.S by the African-American, which in the first place, to stand out protecting the right for blacks, just like Martin Luther. However, according to the article, it states that the black should behave themselves and not to looked down for their performance. For my opinion, probably, they are yet not been kindly accepted by the white due to the contrasting culture and background, as I could not see any connection between rappers with the crime.

It's pretty confusing and one of the reason would be the insufficient of understanding about this article. Feel free to comment and share your opinion no matter you are agree o disagree on my points.

Smokers may face tougher bans

Hi folks

The article is a news report from Reuters (+), describing the new rules and regulations that smokers in Britain may face. The government launched these plans to reduce the percentage of the population who smoke. Removing branding from cigarette packets and banning cigarette vending machine are among them.

Three questions are asked at the end:

Q1. Do you think smoking should be banned?
Article doesn't say that the smoking should be banned, because the smokers have the right to choose their own way of life. I agree with the idea. The point is how to reduce the number of smokers with regulations the are not so much illiberal, like increasing the expenses or encouraging people to stop.

Q2. How can we encourage people to stop smoking?
With taking measures like banning vending machines, improving NHS Stop Smoking Services, tackling tobacco smuggling and maintaining awareness campaigns, as article has said.

Q3. Should smokers pay more for health care?
The question is not answered directly in the text, but in my opinion the answer is "no". Or you should do as the same for all the other activities that increase the chance of being harmed or becoming unhealthy. Think of eating fast food, just for an example!

Too old to be a mum?

Hi all. There are three questions from this article, i would prefer to share the information based on question:

What is the ideal age to become a mother?
- According to the article, fertility clinics, women above 45 are not suitable to be pregnant. For me, the age is not the vital fact but the mentality is the point.

What are the disadvantages and advantages of becoming a mother when you are old?
- to be honest with you, there is no answer from the article! For my opinion, the disadvantage is the mum might not be able to look after the child due to the physical constraint. The advantage could be a better bringing up for children as an older mum is more experienced.

What effect may having elderly parents have on children?
- Young children might feel lonely, helpless when the elderly parents have passed away

I was impressed by the elderly parents, especially mum because she is facing the greatest risk when giving birth as well as the illness developed after that. No matter what the elderly parents has decided, it should be for the sake of children.
