Why is it difficult to learn a new language

There are many reasons why it is so difficult to learn a new language. Firstly,we need to know and memorise a lot of new vocabularies. Then,we need to learn proper intonation and pronunciation of these words. In addition, some words can have different usage and meaning in different situation. More importantly, there are so many complicated and confusing grammar to study about. We even need to know the names or words used in grammar and different forms of tenses. We need to know when and which situation to use it in different tenses and keep reminding ourselves about it when we want to use them. Also, some words that always come together to form a phrase can have a totally different meaning from its original word.

Sometimes a new language can be very similiar to another language that we already know or very good at it. So it is confusing because they both can have a similiar word but the spelling is slightly different. Even the way we pronounce a same word or character can have different sound. Next,we need to pratise writing the characters or words of a new language a lot. We also need a lot of speaking practices which is sometimes very difficult in the environment that we are in because nobody or very few people can pratise speaking or talking the new language to us. Furthermore,in different languages that have a sentence with a same meaning , the arrangement of phrases can be different.

For all these reasons above, learning a new language is something very difficult for me that I wouldn't want to do.

  1. Kritsy,

What a lot of good points!

Maybe you need to cut down the number of points, prioritise them and group them together.

Even if you have a lot of great ideas, some pieces of writing need to be short and then you have to choose which ideas to include.

Well done though - you've obviously spent a lot of time on this!
