Franz Liszt Biography

The famous romantic piano virtuoso, Franz Liszt, was well-known hundreds years ago and until today.

Franz Liszt was born in Raiding, Hungary in 1811. He was a composer and virtuoso pianist. He began his piano lesson with his father at the age of seven. He was a child prodigy. His first professional recital was at nine. After that, he had piano lesson with Czerny and Salieri in 1821.

In Paris, Liszt becomes friend of Berlioz and Chopin in 1825. In 1833, he lived with Countess Marie d’ Agoult and had three children. In addition, there were a few masterpieces, which are Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2, La Campanella and Ave Maria. Other than that, Paganini inspired Liszt to become a great virtuoso.

Liszt had performed an enormous amount of music throughout Europe. However, in the last five years of his life, he concentrated on teaching. His student included Ziloti, Lamond, Rosenthal and Weingartner. He was dead in Bayreuth, 1886.

Although Liszt had leave this world hundreds of years, but his composition will still be people’s favorite pieces at all time.

  1. Liszt is an interesting choice Angeline. Are you a pianist? Unfortunately most of his piano music is too difficult for me, but I love listening to it!

    Good to see that you have organised this chronologically.

    In the second paragraph, could you make the sentences sound more natural and flow better by using linkers to join the short sentences together?

    Maybe the concluding sentence could be worded to ' Although Liszt left this world hundreds of years ago, his composition are still people’s favorite pieces at all time.' Remember if you have 'although', you don't need 'but' as well.

    You've worked hard on this course and improved a lot - well done! Did you manage to find Swan and Walter's How English Works? It will help you to get some more grammatical accuracy.
